Dieter Rams was born in Germany in
1932. He quickly became involved in product design and was appointed head of
design at Braun from 1961 to 1995 after modernizing the interiors of a company
launching revolutionary electrical products. He was responsible for many of the
seminal domestic electrical products. In 1976 he gave a speech in New York over
‘Design by Vitsoe’ which discussed responsible design. He explained how good
design can only come from an understanding of people. His work has been shown
around the world and his Ingeborg Rams Foundation stands to encourage us to
live more meaningful lives.
