Jan Tschichold was a German graphic designer who introduced
the most important approaches to the new typography design. He attended
“Akademie for Grafische Kunste and Buchgewerbe”. Later influenced by the
Bauhaus typography he began using serifless typefaces and began designing
simplified layouts. He freelanced as a commercial graphical artist before
teaching typography at Paul Renners Master Classes for Book Printers in Munich.
Jan worked as a teacher, a publisher, and even a design consultant for many major
companies and schools.
